This VCD introduced by Ravi Kiran, takes you into the heart of the Tyagaraja
Aradhana held every January in Tiruvvaiyyaru (Tamil Nadu) to pay tribute to the
greatest composer of Carnatic music. Hundreds of singers and musicians -
maestros and budding, old and young, famous and as-yet-unrecognised, giants
and minnow, sing the Pancharatna Kritis together as a group.
Excerpts from live recordings spread over 10 years have been woven together
seamlessly to bring the majesty of the occasion in all it's devotional fervour. Since
the festival honours Tyagaraja who was literally the King of Renouncers, no artistes
have been identified or credited. Carnatic music lovers will recognise them all.

Mani Krishnaswamy (1930 - 2002), following in the footsteps of
illustrious women singers like D.K. Pattamal, M.L. Vasanthakumari &
M.S.Subbulakshmi, was the torch bearer of a rich Carnatic musical
tradition.
Intensive training turned her voice into a fine musical instrument with
perfect fidelity to sruti. With excellent range and amplitude, she was
cable of rendering the subtlest nuances of our music.
In this recording, she has rendered rare compositions by her guru
Mysore Vasudevachar and now less-heard melodies like Ragas
Sama and Pushpalatika.
